Richard Falk, a retired professor from Princeton University, wrote on his blog that there had been an "apparent cover up" by American authorities.

He added that most media were "unwilling to acknowledge the well-evidenced doubts about the official version of the events" on 9/11, despite it containing "gaps and contradictions".

And he described David Ray Griffin, a conspiracy theorist highly regarded in the so-called "9/11 truth" movement, as a "scholar of high integrity" whose book on the subject was "authoritative".

Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary-General, described the comments as "preposterous" and "an affront to the memory of the more than 3,000 people who died in the attack." But Mr Ban said that it was not for him to decide whether Prof Falk, who serves the organisation as a special investigator into human rights abuses in the Palestinian territories, should be fired by the UN.

V for Victory

By IBTimes Staff Writer | January 22, 2011 4:50 AM EST

A fresh breed of activists have sprung up fueling a campaign called 'V for Victory', with the tag line 'You are the Resistance', to counter the 'If You See Something, Say Something' initiative of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

'V for Victory, You are the Resistance' to fight DHS

Infowars. com is fueling a campaign called 'V for Victory, You are the Resistance', to counter 'If You See Something, Say Something' initiative of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Similar to the Guy Fawkes-masked cult rebel, V for Vendetta - the fictional revolutionary who destroys the totalitarian government - the 'V for Victory' movement is aimed at fighting back against the moves taken by the authorities to turn Americans against one and other - as the people behind the campaign see it.

Infowars.com, which launched the 'V for Victory' campaign on January 21, asserts, "We are all in danger. A police state control grid is being established in the United States. Now is the time for all lovers of liberty to stand together and speak out against the growing tyranny destroying our republic. We WILL be victorious against the New World Order. Post this V for Victory flyer to warn others and show your peaceful resistance."
